What an exciting start we have had to our kindergarten school year! The students are learning a lot about classroom routines and procedures as well as exploring classroom materials and supplies!

At the conclusion of our 1st week of school I gave each student a ball of Magic Play-doh. Oh, how exciting this was! If the play-doh changed colors as they played with it, we were sure to have a great kindergarten school year...and guess what? It certainly did.

We concluded our second week of school with a special yummy snack after learning about ways to stay safe on a bus. Thank you to all of our generous volunteers who sent in the ingredients for our special snack! We read books, watched videos and discussed safety rules both on and off of the bus.

This coming week we will begin working in small groups for reading and math. Once all of our pre-assessments are completed we will use the collected data to differentiate instruction in our small groups to meet the various learning needs of our students. We will discuss your child's performance on these assessments as well as in the classroom at our fall conference.

Welcome!

Welcome to Kindergarten at Crabapple Crossing Elementary School!

Mrs. Shamblin and I have had the fortunate opportunity to work together for many years. We are so excited to get to know you and begin this new journey together.

I will use this blog to communicate some of the great things we are doing in the classroom so be sure to check in monthly to see what we've been up to. If you'd prefer, you can simply follow our blog by email and all of the updates will automatically be sent to your inbox. Just be sure to visit our blog page so you have access to all of the photos I will be posting!!!

Please visit my class website for curriculum and classroom information. The purpose of the class website is to provide information that you can refer to throughout the year such as the units we will be studying, list of sight words, back to school information, rules, procedures etc... I hope you will find my website and blog as a valuable "green" resource.
